Support

The Joy of Music School relies on the generous support of individuals, businesses, corporations, and foundations. Each gift, regardless of size, helps the School develop the essential resources for providing a quality music education to disadvantaged youth in the Knoxville area.

Contributors have expressed personal joy and satisfaction knowing that their donation helped improve a child’s life. Because The Joy of Music School is a tax-exempt, charitable organization, contributions are normally fully tax-deductible.

Direct Donations:

Cash; Appreciated Stocks, Bonds, or other Securities; Real Estate; Personal Property, including instrument donations.

Deferred Gifts:

Bequests – All or part of a donor’s estate left to the School in a will.

Trusts – Donor’s assets placed in a trust, with the School as ultimate beneficiary. Funds are invested and donor paid an agreed amount, often with significant tax savings.

Annuities – Donor transfers funds to the School with an agreement to receive a fixed income for life.

Life Insurance – Donor names the School as beneficiary.

Endowments:

An endowment is created when a donor and the School agree the amount given is a permanent fund. The principal is not used for current expenses but invested with earnings going for the specified purpose. Endowment gifts...

  1. enable donors to give beyond their lifespans.
  2. allow donors the same tax advantages common to other types of gifts.
  3. help provide a solid base of financial support so the School can maintain its independence and increase its ability to fulfill its mission.

"I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music."

-- Billy Joel
