Private Lessons
We offer lessons on all band and orchestral instruments, piano, guitar, and voice.
If you meet the qualifications below we encourage you to fill out an application. Please be aware, however, that we currently maintain a waiting list for our programs. Up to 200 youth per year are admitted into the program, depending upon the number of available volunteer teachers.
There are three criteria to qualify for free instruction at The Joy of Music School:
1) Financially Disadvantaged*
2) Grades Pre-K through 12
3) Have transportation to Mechanicsville at least one evening a week
Instruments are provided at no charge, and classes are offered in band and orchestral instruments, piano, guitar, and voice.
*qualifying for free or reduced lunch within the public schools or receiving public aid
