Attendance Policy

Students are expected to meet lesson, class and rehearsal schedules promptly and regularly, and remain for the allotted duration.

If you must miss your scheduled lesson, please call us as soon as possible at least 3 hours in advance at 865-525-6806. Two unexcused absences will result in the student being placed on probation. A third unexcused absence will result in the student being dismissed from the program.

With or without an excuse, students are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of their scheduled lessons. If a student misses more that 20% of his/her lessons for any reason, probation may be necessary.

If you have any concerns regarding possible attendance issues, please contact a member of staff immediately. We understand that schedule conflicts may arise and we will endeavor to resolve these as much as possible. Students and parents must be aware that teachers at The Joy of Music School are volunteers who donate their time to teach our students. Respect and courtesy for their commitment is expected from all families.

From time to time, funding organizations that support the Joy of Music School request information from student school records (if a student attends a public/private school). The purpose is to track the impact of music learning on student achievement over time. Individual student names are not released. Kindly provide the following information:
