Joy of Music School events come in many shapes and sizes. Some are special events to raise funds for our programs. Some give our kids performance opportunities. Most are presented by our board and staff, while others are put on by community groups who support our work by raising funds at their own events.

Dining for Joy @ Holly's Gourmets Market
    Mar 28 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Enjoy an upbeat evening to benefit the Joy of Music School. On March 28th, supporters of the School gather for a one-of-a-kind celebration of food, music, and joy!

Come indulge in the many different flavors of Holly’s Gourmets Market, while live music fills the venue, performed by nationally touring artist Will Carter and friends. The evening will be highlighted by a brief performance from students at the School. What better way to witness the results of the Joy of Music School’s efforts than to experience a live performance by students?

The ticket price includes dishes from Holly’s perfectly crafted menu. Wine, cocktails, and other beverages will be available for purchase. Everyone in attendance is eligible to win door prizes donated by generous supporters. All proceed will go directly to the Joy of Music School.

See, hear and feel debut after debut as Joy of Music School students perform, many for the first time, before an audience in a large hall.

This character-building experience is amazing to witness, from beginners to advanced performers.

Applaud the hard work, practice, and courage displayed by our great kids.

Stick around for a great meal, on site, following the performance, provided by the Joy of Music School.

    NIEF-NORF PRESENTS ‘NORF SPEAK’

nief-norf Summer Festival fellows and faculty members will visit the Joy of Music School and teach students the musical language of nief-norf. They will help students create their own graphic scores and the fellows/faculty members will interpret each score. Performers will also play works of the contemporary music genre.

The nief-norf Summer Festival (6/10-6/24 at UTK) is an interdisciplinary summer music festival bringing together performers, composers, and scholars to collaborate on the performance, creation, and discussion of contemporary solo and chamber music.

nief-norf, founded by percussionists Andrew Bliss, Associate Professor at the UTK School

of Music and Kerry O’Brien, is an exciting contemporary music ensemble devoted to performing, studying   and commissioning imaginative and adventurous musical works.

With percussionists at its nucleus, the ensemble embraces the unknown and pursues the improbable to grow musical thought. neifnorf.org
