NIEF-NORF PRESENTS ‘NORF SPEAK’
nief-norf Summer Festival fellows and faculty members will visit the Joy of Music School and teach students the musical language of nief-norf. They will help students create their own graphic scores and the fellows/faculty members will interpret each score. Performers will also play works of the contemporary music genre.
The nief-norf Summer Festival (6/10-6/24 at UTK) is an interdisciplinary summer music festival bringing together performers, composers, and scholars to collaborate on the performance, creation, and discussion of contemporary solo and chamber music.
nief-norf, founded by percussionists Andrew Bliss, Associate Professor at the UTK School
of Music and Kerry O’Brien, is an exciting contemporary music ensemble devoted to performing, studying and commissioning imaginative and adventurous musical works.
With percussionists at its nucleus, the ensemble embraces the unknown and pursues the improbable to grow musical thought. neifnorf.org
